Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Ty Pennington is and always will be remembered for his appearance in ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, from 2003 to 2012, a show that would transform the homes of families in seven days or less, but his career in television started a couple of years before that when he served as carpenter on TLC's home improvement reality television show Trading Spaces, from 2000 to 2003. Ty learned woodworking and began teaching himself about carpentry and home improvement at a very young age, but he also majored in art and history.

Then in 2014 he appeared in TNT's On the Menu alongside Emeril Lagasse, and from 2015 to 2016 he was part of Food Network's American Diner Revival.
