Cast and crew remember a bold move
Shia LaBeouf first became a household name after he appeared on the family-friendly Disney original show, Even Stevens. The show, which was only on air for 3 years between 2000-2003, featured LaBeouf as the main character, "Louis".
In a virtual chat on Wednesday, old co-workers gathered to discuss their memories of their time on set, and specifically recall LaBeouf's bold move during his audition.
"We owe a lot of [the show’s] success to his raw talent," Nick Spano said of LaBeouf.
Proving Honey Boy had it right about the A-lister's past confidence, they all recall the hilarious moment LaBeouf stole their hearts!
AJ Trauth recalls, "It was the auditions for 'Louis Stevens' and Shia comes into the waiting room and starts introducing himself to all the other kid actors auditioning for Louis, saying, ‘Hey, I’m Shia, I’m playing Louis Stevens!'"

"That’s a true story," producer David Brookwell confirmed.
"Somebody came out of the lobby… saying, 'Hey, Shia's saying he's got the part, and there's another set of parents that are upset.'"
Brookwell continued, "So we had to pull him aside and say, 'Dude, what are you doing?' and he’s like, 'Well, you know, I've got the part, don’t I?'"
"That kid, you knew something was gonna happen with him," said Karen Toole-Rentrop, who worked on the show’s makeup department.
She continued, "I met him he was eight… I’m happy for him because he’s a good person and he’s gone through a lot, but you could see success in him from that age."
All of the cast and crew had nothing but positive memories on their time on set.

LaBeouf has previously said that he loved his time on the show, but he has no interest in a reboot.
"Yeah, I mean, I loved doing it. It was a lot of fun. But no, I haven’t thought about that," he said at the time.
Even Stevens is now streaming on Disney+.
