Elton John finishes his final tour of his career
After nearly 5 years of this tour, Elton John has said goodbye to the touring life. The last song of his set was "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"
The tour began in late 2018 but was paused in 2020 for close to two years because of the pandemic.
"When we set off on my final tour in 2018, I couldn’t have foreseen in my wildest dreams the twists and turns and the highs and lows this tour — and the whole world — would have experienced in the next 5 years," Elton John said via press release.
Friends and fans took to social media to congratulate the musician on his legendary career.
"I love you so much @eltonjohn. I will forever be proud of your exceptional achievements you are a true genius," Donatella Versace said on Instagram.
"You did it Captain! incredible work ethic and stamina... Proud to know you everyday", Brandi Carlile gushed via Instagram.
"Elton, from all of us here (in Gothenburg), from all the bands and artists you’ve helped and inspired, we love you so much," Chris Martin said in a video message.
In a press release, John said he was trying to "process" the end of the tour. "I’m trying to process it, and I don’t think it will sink in for a while yet that I’m finally finished touring," Elton John said.
"I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss the fans and how much their support has humbled me it will stay with me forever," Elton John concluded.
