Jopling and Goulding initially crossed paths at a dinner organized by a mutual friend, who hosted the event after the singer's performance at the Jingle Bell Ball in late 2016.

“It’s not a particularly exciting story, sadly. It wasn’t a love at first sight thing at all,” Goulding said to Jessie Ware on her podcast 'Table Manners.'

A tipsy puzzle turned proposal

Imagine this: a cozy night in, a few drinks flowing, and the soothing snap of puzzle pieces fitting together. Sounds like a regular evening, right? Wrong! Goulding spills the beans on how her beau, Caspar Jopling (Art Dealer), turned a casual puzzle session into a heart-melting proposal. "We were having maybe a couple of drinks and we were doing a Jigsaw puzzle," Goulding reveals. But wait for the kicker – it wasn't just any puzzle night. "He likes them. I think it was quite an easy one. Probably 400 (pieces)."

Just when you thought the night couldn't get any more adorable, Goulding throws in a twist. "Anyway, I think he was getting bored of it, and then he proposed." That's right, folks! In the middle of piecing together a 400-piece jigsaw, Jopling decided it was the perfect moment to pop the question. And guess what? "It was quite romantic for some reason," Goulding gushes. In 2019, Goulding and Jopling exchanged vows in a grand ceremony at York Minster. “Being married is still just like being boyfriend and girlfriend with my husband, we’re like good mates,” Goulding told 'Heart Radio' afterwards.

Jopling, an art dealer at the prestigious White Cube gallery, completed an MBA at Oxford and worked at Sotheby’s in New York for five years. Born in Yorkshire and educated at Eton, he studied History of Art and Architecture, as well as Film Studies, at Harvard. Despite initial misconceptions, he's not a professional athlete but did row for Team GB at the Youth Olympics in 2010.
