Inaba felt that Delvey's dismissive attitude showed a lack of respect for the competition and the other participants. She emphasized the importance of appreciation and humility in such a setting, criticizing Delvey for not acknowledging the effort put in by everyone involved.
- Anna Delvey ended her time on 'DWTS'
- She apparently got nothing out of it
- THIS was Carrie Ann's response
A judge is taken aback
After the fake heiress said she took away “nothing” from her time on 'Dancing With the Stars' following her elimination on Sept. 24, Carrie shared her honest reaction to Anna’s commentary.
“I was taken aback by her comment when asked what she learned from being on the show, and she flatly said, ‘Nothing,’” the longtime judge told 'Entertainment Weekly.'
“That was dismissive not only of the opportunity she was given, of her wonderful and supportive partner Ezra in his debut season, but also of all of us who work on the show-from the dancers to behind the scenes to the creative team.”
She continued, “We all put in the effort to give her a fair opportunity. But I don’t think she could see that and it’s a shame. A little gratitude could have changed the narrative.”
Inaba’s comments highlight the expectations of sportsmanship and respect in the reality TV world, especially in a competitive environment like 'Dancing with the Stars.'
When asked if she was surprised by Delvey's elimination, Inaba said that fans are "passionate and engaged" and vote for "who they want to win the Mirrorball trophy."
"But I’d like to point out something important. Our fans don’t vote people off," she explained. "That is not our format. Unlike 'Survivor', we don’t vote people off. Our fans vote for who they want to win."
Anna—who was convicted in 2019 of grand larceny and theft of services for defrauding wealthy individuals and businesses—has been a topic of discussion with 'DWTS' fans and those inside of the ballroom since it was announced she would be joining season 33.
While some viewers were captivated by her story and the chance for redemption, others criticized her for what they perceived as a lack of sincerity. Her performances varied, showcasing her determination to prove herself in a new light, but her past continued to overshadow her efforts.
The experience served as a unique platform for Delvey, allowing her to engage with a broader audience and possibly shift public perception.
However, the discussions around her involvement highlighted deeper themes of accountability and the complexities of fame, especially for someone with such a tumultuous background. Overall, her time on 'Dancing with the Stars' added another chapter to her controversial narrative.
Anna—who rocked a bedazzled ankle monitor during her time competing for the mirror ball trophy—joked about the backlash and said, “This is a dancing show, so hopefully I'm not going to be reincarcerated for dancing badly."
Though Anna put on a good front while on-camera, Ezra revealed that during week one, she was brought to tears after the live-taping because of the backlash. He explained on Instagram Sept. 23 that the producers “couldn’t find her” and when they did she was upset.
“They finally found her in the bathroom,” he shared. “She was crying. I've never seen her like that, and it broke my heart.”

Despite the chatter, Anna made her debut along Ezra, her partner, and quickstepped through the noise during week one. Following her debut dance, Anna told 'E! News' that the show pushed her past her comfort zone.
"I'm not a performer, so it's something new," Anna shared. "I learned a lot and hopefully I'll learn a lot moving forward."
