Our thoughts are with the Van Der Beek family as they go through an absolutely devastating loss. James revealed after competing in the semi-finals on this season of Dancing with the Stars that his wife, Kimberly, has recently suffered a miscarriage with their sixth child. "My wife Kimberly and I went through every expectant parent's worst nightmare. We lost the baby. The little soul that we had expected to welcome into our family took a shortcut to whatever lies beyond. You never know why these things happen. It's what I've been telling my kids. All you know is that it brings you closer together," he said.

"It breaks you open. It opens up your heart. Deepens your appreciation. Makes you more human. I really didn't think I would be dancing tonight. But Kimberly from our hospital bed said to me, 'I am not done watching you dance.' Kimberly, I love you." the Dawson's Creek star continued. His recent loss inspired him to pick the song "Take Me to Church" by Hozier for his semi-final routine. He explained, "that song has taken on a whole new meaning for me this week. When words fail, you sing. When there are no words, you dance."

DWTS: James Van Der Beek gets sent home

Of course, Van Der Beek dedicated his dance to his wife who was at home recovering. His eldest daughter Olivia (9) however, was in the audience cheering her dad on. The judges also offered their condolences as well as the rest of the contestants on the show. As if all of that wasn't emotional enough, James was in the bottom two and ultimately sent home at the end of the night. Our thoughts are with the Van Der Beek family at this time.
