She explained she was then taken to a hotel room, where she remained a couple of days with someone who raped her. "I remember the pain and trying to stay conscious in the room after it happened. He didn’t look at me, I was to walk behind him. I contemplated running away to the neighbouring city or town, as he slept, but had no cash and I was afraid he would call the police on me, for running away, and maybe they would track me down as a missing person."
Duffy was worried about going to the police
Duffy added that she knew her life was in danger as the perpetrator confessed he wanted to kill her. She was eventually able to escape by "fleeing," although she did not provide details of how she did it. "I only remember coming round in the car in the foreign country and the escape that would happen by me fleeing in the days following that," Duffy wrote.

Later on she explained that someone she knew went to her house and saw her on the balcony "staring into space." According to her acquaintance, she looked "like a dead person." She said they were worried about her but also didn't want to interfere since they had never seen anything similar. Duffy contemplated going to the police but was afraid of doing so. "I felt if anything went wrong, I would be dead, and he would have killed me."
The singer then decided to tell a police officer what happened after someone threatened to go public with her story. She also said the identity of the rapist should only be handled between her and the police. Now she is trying to find a psychologist she can trust in order to "leave this decade behind, where the past belongs."
