The whirlwind of a weekend for Doja Cat

Doja Cat had quite the weekend after videos surfaced of the singer interacting with alleged white supremacists, and using racial slurs. The videos were part of a known far-right chat room, in which the singer can be heard using the N-word.

Not only were there racial slurs involved, but homophobic language was also used by the singer, and had many fans calling her out.

However, just as quickly as the #DojaIsOverParty was trending on Twitter, #WeAreSorryDoja flooded news feeds. The apologies came after the videos didn't actually show her saying the exact words the singer was accused of.

Just when fans thought the storm was over, more videos surfaced, as well as a 2015 song "Dindu Nuffin”. The song title itself is a slur used by alt-right members for people of colour who have fallen victim to police brutality.

Another report shows Doja appearing to make fun of Sandra Bland, a woman of colour who died while in police custody in 2015.

Doja then apologized Sunday, stating that she was “sorry for upsetting or hurting” anyone, adding she was “taking this all very seriously.”
