David Schwimmer played "Ross Geller" in Friends from 1994 to 2004. Now the 53-year-old actor revealed he was well aware of the lack of the diversity while filming the iconic show. During an interview with The Guardianhe said he "campaigned for years to have 'Ross' date women of colour."

David Schwimmer opens up about his time on Friends

David Schwimmer opened up about his time on Friendsand said: "One of the first girlfriends I had on the show was an Asian American woman (Lauren Tom), and later I dated African American women. That was a very conscious push on my part." His African-American on-screen girlfriend "Charlie," played by Aisha Tyler, lasted nine episodes between seasons 9 and 10.

David Schwimmer's recent revelations come after he shut down all hopes of a Friends reunion: " just don’t think it’s possible, given everyone’s different career trajectories,” he said. 

The last episode of Friends aired more than 10 years ago, in 2004.
