Hawaii Five-0 hunk Daniel Dae Kim has a big goal in mind, to get actor James Hong a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
Daniel Dae Kim Wants To Get James Hong A Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star
James Hong has been acting since the 1950s and has well over 600 acting roles to his name, so many in fact, his filmography has it's own Wikipedia page! The 91-year-old actor is still even working to this day! He has been in Hollywood gems like Blade Runner, Big Trouble in Little China, Mulan, and Kung Fu Panda.
James Hong is deeply American, even serving in the United States Army and getting his start in showbusiness entertaining his fellow troops. His family emigrated from Hong Kong to Minneapolis and opened up a restaurant, truly living the American Dream.
Now James is a Hollywood legend, his face and voice recognizable by all ages for his vast amount and quality work. James starred in the original Hawaii Five-0 and in the reboot with Daniel Dae Kim where the two stars met and now Daniel is doing his best to rally fans together to secure James a well-earned star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Daniel has launched a GoFundMe and is doing his best to spread the word about his campaign. Even Community's Ken Jeong is showing his support. Daniel said "This man epitomizes the term 'working actor,' and that's not even taking into account all he's done to help further representation for actors of color. Not only was he one of the few who worked steadily when there were even fewer roles than there are now, but he also served the Asian American community by co-creating the legendary East West Players theatre company with fellow pioneers like Mako and Nobu McCarthy, just to name a few."
Daniel expressed the meaning behind having a star on Hollywood Boulevard and said "If you're reading this you probably agree that James deserves to be among them."
Ana Martinez, the Hollywood Walk of Fame producer re-tweeted Daniel's tweet and told Variety, "We are happy to consider Mr. Hong if he agrees on the nomination in writing."
Fingers crossed that Daniel Dae Kim gets James Hong that well-earned Hollywood Walk of Fame star!
