The mid-1970s was when Mandy Patinkin started to establish his popularity, after appearing in some television commercials he founded his way in musical theater and has been recognized for his work as an interpreter in several Broadway plays.
The 69-year-old actor originally from Chicago also has an outstanding acting career; some of his most relevant works are in films like The Princess Bride where he played "Inigo Montoya" in 1987, and The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland portraying "Huxley."

In 2005 he came to prominence for playing the role of a Senior Supervisory Special Agent "Jason Gideon" on the CBS crime drama Criminal Minds. However, he left the show in 2007 due to creative differences; expressing his discomfort with the depiction of violence in the series. He reportedly called his work in Criminal Minds his "biggest public mistake."

After leaving Criminal Minds Mandy Patinkin appeared in the series Three Rivers in 2009; in 2015 he voiced characters for the shows Wonder Pets! and Nina's World, and he was also the voice of "Papa Smurf" in the 2017 film Smurfs: The Lost Village.
Most recently he portrayed "Irwin" in the 2018 film Life Itself, as well as "Mel" in the 2019 film Before You Know It. Since 2011 he costars with Claire Danes in the television show Homeland, where he portrays the counterterrorism operative "Saul"; a role that has earned him four Primetime Emmy Award nominations. In 2021, you can also cath Mandy in a few episodes of The Good Fight.
