The more information coming forward about the toxic relationship between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is shifting the dark shadow from Depp onto Heard.

On Monday, the High Court justice ruled that Depp can use testimony from Heard’s former personal assistant, Kate James.

Depp is suing The Sun newspaper for libel, after a 2018 article called the actor a "wife-beater," according to The Guardian.

Depp will be officially suing the publisher and executive editor of the newspaper.

Depp's ex-partner Vanessa Paradis has already testified in the case, supporting Depp in saying, "I have known Johnny for more than 25 years. We’ve been partners for 14 years and we raised our two children together."

"Through all these years I’ve known Johnny to be a kind, attentive, generous, and non-violent person and father. He was never violent or abusive to me,” she ended her statement. Paradis and Depp separated shortly before Heard and Depp coupled up, and when he allegedly first became violent.

Winona Ryder also sent in a statement protecting her past ex saying, "I cannot wrap my head around [Heard’s] accusations. He was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me."

During Monday's hearing, a representative for Heard said in an official statement that, "As the judgment today shows, Mr Depp’s team has been attempting to introduce irrelevant evidence."

They continued, "This is one of the defining characteristics of their strategy – to adduce irrelevant evidence designed to smear Ms Heard and distract from the facts so that people do not focus on Mr. Depp’s behaviour.”

The full trial for the libel claim will be set for sometime in July.
