Colin Farrell: His Best Movies Through The Years

Born May 31, 1976 in Dublin Ireland, actor Colin Farrell became interested in acting after seeing Henry Thomas in 1982 Steven Spielberg sci-fi film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. After enrolling in acting school, it didn't take long for Colin to score his first big role and become a prominent figure in Hollywood!

After early roles in 1998's BBC series Ballykissangel and 1999 film The War Zone, Colin Farrell would catch the attention of Hollywood after landing the lead in 2000's war drama Tigerland. While the film itself wasn't a runaway success, Farrell's performance was enough to catch the eye of Hollywood directors and to begin his ascent to stardom. 

In 2002, Colin Farrell starred in a supporting role alongside Tom Cruise in action film Minority Report. The role was originally supposed to be played by Matt Damon, but after Damon turned it down Farrell was next in line and would play the part spectacularly. 

Now a common name in Hollywood and voted one of Hollywood's "Sexiest Men" by Company magazine, Colin Farrell would see one box-office success after another with the release of 2003 thrillers Phone Booth, The Recruit, and S.W.A.T. 

While not a commercial success in the United States, Colin Farrell's portrayal of "Alexander the Great" in 2004's Alexander was received warmly internationally. Colin would more than make up for the movie's flop in the U.S. though with 2005's Academy Award-nominated The New World. 

2006 would bring two more big films for Colin Farrell, including period drama Ask the Dust and Michael Mann's action crime thriller Miami Vice. While the former received mixed reviews, Miami Vice was ranked one of the best films of the decade by TimeOut New York!

By the late 2000s, Colin Farrell was in high-demand by every Hollywood director. With films directed by Steven Spielberg, John Fante, and Michael Mann under his belt, it was only a matter of time before Farrell would pair up with famed director Woody Allen for 2007's Cassandra's Dream. 

One of the most memorable roles of Colin Farrell's career came in 2008 with black comedy crime film In Bruges. Paired up with Irish-British director Martin McDonagh and co-star Brendan Gleeson, the film was a huge success and earned Farrell his first Golden Globe! 

One of our favorite Collin Farrell films has to be 2011's Horrible Bosses. Taking on the role of cocaine-fiend and boss "Bobby Pellit", Farrell brings lots of humor to this box-office success! 

Colin Farrell has continued to be successful in the second half of the 2000s with films including Dead Man Down (2013), Saving Mr.Banks (2013), and 2015's romantic sci-fi thriller The Lobster. The latter, also starring Rachel Weisz and John C. Reilly, was a huge success at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
