Clint Eastwood's Impressive Career In Pictures

Clint Eastwood was born on May 31st 1930 in San Francisco. He started to build his career in the film industry more than 50 years ago and has worked as a film actor, producer, composer and director. As of now, he has appeared in more than 50 films and has starred in over 40. His roles in Western, action and drama films made him a cultural icon of masculinity. His net worth is estimated to be 375 million dollars.

Clint Eastwood's first appearances as an actor started in the decade of the 1950's. He was part of the cast of 1959 American Western series Rawhide, alongside Eric Fleming, where he played the role of "Rowdy Yates" from season 1 to 7. The television series portrayed the typical challenges faced by the drovers of a cattle drive.

During the 1960's former Eastwood's co-star Eric Fleming rejected an offer to star in the Italian-made western film A Fistful of Dollars, but Clint Eastwood didn't. The film was very relevant in the development of spaghetti Westerns and was so successful that Eastwood became a major star in Italy. Then he was hired again to star in the second and third parts of the trilogy, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, respectively.

Clint Eastwood gained major recognition during the 1970's and 1980's for his role as "Harry Callahan" in the American action film series Dirty Harry, from 1971 and 1988. The movies feature San Francisco Police Department Homicide Division Inspector "Harry Callahan", an extremely violent detective. Eastwood portrayed "Callahan" in all of the series' films and also directed the fourth one.

Clint Eastwood started to direct films in 1971, and it was in 1982 when he made his debut as producer with the action techno-thriller film Firefox, in which he starred. The film, based upon the 1977 Craig Thomas' novel of the same name, goes around the life of "Mitchell Gant", a veteran pilot who gets involved in a mission to steal a Russian fighter plane.

Directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, Tightrope is an American suspense erotic thriller,  that tells the story of "Wes Block" (Eastwood), a detective who discovers new faces of his personaliy while hunting down a serial killer. The film was released in 1984 and it was such a success that it became the fourth highest-grossing R-rated film of 1984.

One of the most acclaimed Clint Eastwood's works is 1992 American Western film Unforgiven, which he directed and produced. The film, starred by Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, and Frances Fisher, among other celebrities, tells the story of a group of brothel workers who post a reward for the murder of two cowboys who attacked a prostitue. The film won four Academy awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Clint Eastwood; he was also nominated for Best Actor but lost to Al Pacino for Scent of a Woman.

Based on John Berendt's novel and starring John Kusack and Kevin Spacey, 1997 American crime drama film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was directed by Clint Eastwood. The movie follows the story of an antiques dealer who is on trial for the murder of a male prostitute.

It is well known that Clint Eastwood usually appears in the movies he directs, however, he did not appear in 2003 mystery drama Mystic River. The movie, based on Dennis Lehane's novel of the same name, got six Academy Awards nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, among others. 

Million Dollar Baby is another success in Eastwoods' career. He directed, co-produced, and starred in the 2004 American sports drama film, where he shared credits with celebrities like Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman. The film about a veteran boxing trainer who is reluctant to train a young woman, won four Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actress.
