Clark Gregg and Jennifer Grey have moved one step closer to finalizing their separation.

The popular acting couple announced their intention to divorce in a heartbreaking Instagram reveal on July 3. Now, six weeks later, Gregg has filed for divorce from Grey in Los Angeles County Court. ET confirmed that he took the step officially on Aug. 13.

When Gregg and Grey broke the news of their separation, they revealed that they had split amicably months earlier, in January. After coming to terms with a public announcement, they on July 3 wrote:

"After 19 years together, we separated in January, knowing we'd always be a family who loves, values and cares for each other. We recently made the difficult decision to divorce, but we remain close and are deeply grateful for the life we've shared and the wonderful daughter we've raised."

"P.S. Totally crying as we post this," Grey and Gregg signed off on the bittersweet post.

Gregg, best known as "Phil Coulson" in the MCU, and Grey, the Dirty Dancing star, began dating in 2000 and were married in the summer of 2001. The couple's only child, Stella, was born in December 2001. She graduated high school this summer, at which time her parents reunited for the special occasion.

Though no longer together, Gregg and Grey crossed the 19-year mark for their marriage this past July. Grey, who celebrated her 60th birthday this year, also recently made headlines with news that she's returning to star in a sequel to Dirty Dancing, the hit 1987 romantic dance film in which she starred as "Baby."
