Chrishell Stause is moving on from her ex-husband Justin Hartley by taking "baby steps" back into the dating world! In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight's Lauren Zima, she talked about what it's like to put herself out there during the pandemic.
Stause calls potential dates' interest "a nice surprise"
Stause was honest about her dating life, revealing there's been some interest now that she's back on the market. "I have to say I have had a few, yes," she said after she was asked if any potential dates have approached her. "Yeah it's been -- I don't know how to answer that, I feel so weird. But yes, that has been a nice surprise," she said. Still, she played coy when it came to the details!
"There's a few [people you might know], but I'm not going to tell you who," she said. Stause also said that the pandemic has made dating challenging, but she's excited to get there again! "I'm completely single and because of COVID, I haven't done much mingling," she joked. "I'm excited to mingle." As of now however, she's just "responded in a polite way. I haven't like gone and like... I haven't taken the next step, no."
Stause says she learned via text that Hartley was filing for divorce
Stause was taken by surprise when Hartley filed for divorce in November of 2019. According to Entertainment Tonight, a source shared that Stause was "completely shocked by Justin filing for divorce. The couple has always been incredible, with no signs of things being on the rocks."
"Friends are speculating this was an impulse on Justin's side due to something that happened," the source continued, "and are hopeful the couple can work things out."
In the third season of Selling Sunset— which came out on Netflix in August— Stause revealed that Hartley informed her he was filing for divorce via text message 45 minutes before it happened. As Entertainment Tonight mentions, Hartley himself hasn't commented.
Stause on living in the moment: "You're not promised anything"
Stause also talked about how she's been coping after losing both of her parents to lung cancer just over a year apart— her father died last April, and her mother passed this June. "I'm in a really positive space," she said. "I have dealt with personal stuff with my family, but even that... it just feels like it's just an important time to say yes to things, because you don't know how short life is.
"You don't know how long you're going to be here," Stause continued. "You're not promised anything, so if this year has taught me anything, it's just -- even if it scares you, just say yes, dress up, show up, get out there." It was recently announced that Stause is joining the season 29 cast of Dancing With the Stars, which gives her the perfect opportunity to do just that!
Stause thinks Selling Sunset cast will mostly support her
Stause talked about how she thinks her Selling Sunset co-stars are going to feel about her new gig! "I think the majority of them are going to be so excited for me," she said. They're gonna be cheering me on. Not all of them, let's be honest, but that's OK."
As Entertainment Tonight mentions, Stause has gotten into conflict with Christine Quinn and Davina Potratz on the show. However, she's not bothered by their opinions! "I mean, honestly I don't really care what she says anymore. I just don't," Stause said of Quinn.
"I'm just so past her opinion and caring about it, so she's earned that at this point," she explained. "Trust me." We're glad that Stause seems to be at a good place in her life, and look forward to seeing what she brings to the Dancing With the Stars ballroom this season!
