Ellen Page recently took to her twitter to call out actor Chris Pratt about his choice in church. Chris Pratt attends Zoe Church, which is linked to the Hillsong Church based in Australia. The church started out in Australia and now has locations in both Los Angeles and New York City and is known for being anti-LGBTQ. Other celebrities that attend this church are Justin Bieber and Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Ellen Page Slams Chris Pratt
Carl Lentz, a pastor at Hillsong, came under fire in 2015 for saying that "homosexuality is a sin and that a gay member could never hold a leadership position," when speaking to the public, according to Variety. Ellen Page voiced her disgust in a tweet after Pratt appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and discussed his faith and his pastor. She said, "If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don't be surprised if someone simply wonders why it's not addressed. Being anti LGBTQ is wrong, there aren't two sides. The damage it causes is severe. Full stop. Sending love to all."
Chris Pratt is mostly known for his strong roles in Guardians of the Galaxy, he is also known to be a devout Christian and walk through life with Jesus. Recently, Chris announced his engagement to girlfriend Katherine Schwarzenegger on his Instagram. The caption for his post had strong religious undertones as he wrote that he is "proud to live boldly in faith with you," about his new fiancée.
How He Got To Where He Is
Chris Pratt opened up about where it all started for him. He was just a wayward teenager in Maui Hawaii when a complete stranger approached him and asked him what he was doing tonight. The man asked him if he was going to "fornicate tonight? And drugs and drinking?" to which Chris replied, "Probably all three of those things," according to Elle Australia. It was then that the stranger told him, "I stopped because Jesus told me to stop and talk to you. He said to tell you you're destined for great things," and that is when Chris gave his soul to Jesus.
A month after Chris had found God, a director discovered him while he was waiting tables and well, the rest is history as they say. Chris was very open about his trust and restoring of trust in God when his son with ex-wife Anna Faris, Jack, was born five months premature. He also is gracious when accepting awards often saying that "I would not be here with the ease and grace I have in my heart without my lord and savior, Jesus Christ," according to Elle Australia.
