After Ellen Page spoke out against Chris Pratt and his church affiliation which is infamously known to be 'anti-LGBTQ', Chris Pratt has finally addressed the claims on a story on his Instagram page on Monday. These claims came about after Pratt was discussing his faith on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. It was made clear to Ellen Page that he attends Zoe Church in Los Angeles which is run by the megachurch Hillsong. Their pastors are known for speaking out about how homosexuality is a sin and that gay people are not allowed to be senior members of their organization. Blatant discrimination.
Speaking Out
With this being a prominent issue in society, Ellen Page took to her twitter to speak out against the church and Chris Pratt's affiliation with it. She added that "if lgbtq+ people are expressing their pain, their trauma, their experiences... maybe just try and listen? Open your heart, stop being defensive and have compassion. It's a beautiful and life changing feeling, empathy. Much love truly to all."
"Nothing could be further form the truth"
Chris Pratt responded in his story by saying, "it has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which 'hates a certain group of people' and is 'infamously anti-LGBTQ.' Nothing could be further from the truth, I go to a church that opens their doors to absolutely everyone." While that may be true about opening their doors to everyone, it still does not explain the fact that gay people are not allowed to be in positions of leadership at the church. Unfortunately, discrimination is still present in the church that Chris Pratt attends and we hope that will change one day soon.
