Chris Hemsworth and his family have donated $1 million to help Australia fight and recover from the terrible bushfires that have been ablaze since September and experts believe they will continue to rage for months to come. The fires burning across New South Wales and Victoria (among other parts of the nation) have wiped out millions of acres and destroyed hundreds of homes, buildings and animals in the process.

Chris Hemsworth urges fans to donate to the fires in Australia
"Hey there guys, as you're well aware the bushfires in Australia have cased massive devastation. They continue to burn, there's warmer weather on its way, we're really still in the thick of it here, as is plenty of the challenging times ahead and still to come," the 36-year-old actor said in his video. He then went on to ask his followers and fans to donate what they can as everyone in Australia is "in desperate need" of support.
Other celebrities who have donated to the fight of the fires are Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban ($500,000), Pink ( $500,000) and Hilary Duff and her husband Matthew Koma will also be donating among others. "Dig deep, and lots of love, and we'll keep pushing forward. Cheers," Hemsworth concluded in his video.
