A Blast from the Past: The Feud Unveiled!

Remember the good old days of "Cheers," where everybody knew your name, and the laughs were endless?

Well, it turns out, behind the scenes, not everything was as cheery as it seemed. Ted Danson, the beloved bartender "Sam Malone", recently revealed on his podcast 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (sometimes)' that he and Kelsey Grammer, aka "Dr. Frasier Crane", had a bit of a tiff during those golden years.

In a move that shocked and delighted fans, Danson took a moment to publicly apologize to Grammer, saying, “I feel like I got stuck a little bit with you during the ‘Cheers’ years. I have a memory of getting angry at you once.”

Without going into detail about what drew his ire at the time, Grammer acknowledged his memory of the moment, saying, “Yeah, you came and told me that one day.”

“It’s stuck in both of our memories. But I feel like I missed out on the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer and I feel like it’s my bad, my doing,” Danson said. “I apologize to you. And [to] me that I sat back… I really do apologize.”

Kelsey smiled when he thanked Danson for the apology and said that he, too, wishes they’d “spent some more time together” through the years, but it seems as though any past friction is now behind them.

“My love for you has always been as easy as the day,” Grammer said. “As easy as the sunrise.” Grammer's gracious acceptance of the apology, noting his continued affection for Danson, was as heartwarming as a 'Cheers' reunion episode.

While Danson didn't dive into the nitty-gritty of their disagreement, it's clear that whatever happened left a lasting impression on both stars. Yet, in the spirit of true friendship and maturity, they've shown that it's never too late to mend fences.

'Cheers' not only gave us memorable characters and quotable lines but also launched the careers of its cast, including Danson and Grammer. Grammer went on to star in the successful spinoff 'Frasier,' which itself has seen a revival on Paramount+ in 2023, proving the enduring appeal of these characters.

Grammer specifically recalled the heartening words Danson gave him on his 40th birthday. This was after their rift, but Danson still went to Grammer’s birthday and said, “You know what it means, don’t you? Now that you’re 40, it means you’re finally worth having a conversation with.”

Grammer said, “That was f---ng brilliant. I always loved that. And I thought about it, and I’ve repeated it.” So there you have it: Life begins at 40, and it’s never too late to squash the beef.
