• Charlize Theron is a mom above all
  • She is now enjoying their teenage years
  • Theron's outlook on life has changed because of them

Charlize Theron, the 48-year-old Oscar-winning actress, opens up about the joys and challenges of motherhood with her two daughters, Jackson and August. From dealing with preteen attitudes to shattering rumors about plastic surgery, Theron's candid revelations offer a glimpse into her life as a single mom.

Embarrassing Mom Alert!

Oh, my God, they're so embarrassed by me constantly," the actress told 'E! News' at her party for her Africa outreach project on July 13. "They’re kids, they're girls, you know? I have a preteen and I feel like I have a 9-year-old who thinks she's a 13-year-old. It’s a lot of girl in our house."

Charlize Theron, the powerhouse actress known for her roles in 'Monster' and 'Mad Max: Fury Road,' is just like any other mom - trying to keep up with her kids and, occasionally, embarrassing them! Theron, who is a single mom to two daughters, Jackson and August, shared with 'E! News' how her household is full of "girl power" and the occasional eye-roll at mom's antics.

"Yes, I'm that mom! The one who constantly embarrasses her kids!" Theron joked. With a preteen and a nine-year-old who thinks she's thirteen, Theron's home life is filled with laughter, sass, and a bit of teenage drama.

"I'm just trying to keep my head above water, because they are smart and they are witty and they are firecrackers, but they do not go, ‘Oh my god, Mom, you're so amazing.’ They’re like, ‘Excuse me, I need. I want.’"

In true Charlize fashion, the actress also took a moment to address the whispers about "bad plastic surgery." Her response? "B----, I'm just aging!" Theron's no-nonsense attitude and openness about aging in Hollywood are refreshing in an industry obsessed with youth and appearance.

Theron has always been open about her journey to motherhood through adoption. Adopting Jackson and August in 2012 and 2015, respectively, Theron fulfilled her dream of becoming a mom. Theron explained the process of adopting her two children in a 2019 interview with 'NPR'.

"I wanted to believe that somehow my child would find me in the way that we were just meant to be," she said. "So I wasn't specific with anything… In whatever country they would allow me as a single woman to adopt, that's where I filed. And it just happened to be that both my children ended up being American."

"They were born in the United States and they both happened to be African American."

Her daughters, both born in the United States and African American, were meant to be hers, she believes, in a fate-filled process that led them to become a family.

Originally from South Africa, Theron admits that the American school system is a bit of a puzzle to her. "My education was so different," she told 'Harper's Bazaar', highlighting the challenges and "bells and whistles" of parenting in a culture different from the one she grew up in.
