TikTok star Charli D'Amelio is only 17 years old, but she's already amassed a staggering social media following. At the end of November, she became the first person in the world to reach more than 100 million followers on TikTok—the short video-sharing service.

D'Amelio's internet career actually began less than 18 months ago. In May 2019, she released her first short clip, a lip-sync video on TikTok. That video and many more have since gone viral.
As of April 2021, she has 114 million followers and over 9 billion likes on her videos. Charli is also quite popular on Instagram as a result: she has over 41 million followers on the platform.
Her dance videos in particular are well received by her followers. The 17-year-old receives plenty of recognition for her talents, but she's also not spared from the critics. In particular, some have voiced concerns about the suggestiveness of certain videos and dances by the teen — but she's none too concerned.

Since she regularly raves about Dunkin' Donuts in her videos, Charli got an advertising deal with the restaurant chain—where a drink was even named after her. D'Amelio was also seen next to Jennifer Lopez in a Super Bowl clip where she and the singer performed a TikTok dance challenge.
Charli's older sister Dixie D'Amelio, 19, is also famous. She has several million followers of her own on social media. Together, the sisters are among the top-earning TikTok stars.
