Grammy-winning hip hop superstar Cardi B is the latest celebrity to claim a victory over one of her more vehement detractors. A federal jury in Atlanta, Georgia has awarded $1.25 million to the rapper in a defamation lawsuit against a celebrity news blogger who, Cardi B claims, posted videos falsely accusing the superstar of using cocaine, contracting herpes and engaging in prostitution.

This comes after years of rumors about Cardi B's shady past, fueled by an admission from the rapper herself where she confessed to drugging and robbing men when she was a younger woman with no career prospects.

Cash Money! Cardi B Wins Big Lawsuit

The jury on Monday found Latasha Kebe, known online as Tasha K, and a company she owns, liable for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress against the rapper, whose legal name is Belcalis Almanzar. Kebe's lawyers said in an email last Tuesday that they disagree with the verdict and will be looking to file an appeal right away.

Be that as it may, at the end of the day, the jury awarded the rapper $1 million in general damages for her pain and suffering as well as any reputational injury. And on top of that, another $250,000 for medical expenses!

Despite Kebe's reputation being thrown into the limelight publicly, and Cardi B's fans actively harassing the blogger in return, the judge and jury saw no cause to rule in her favor whatsoever!

Cardi B clearly didn't need the money, but it's the principle that counts, and this will be seen as a victory for Hollywood itself more than anything else; an industry that has always dealt with these types of incidents.

But an appeal is likely to come from Kebe's lawyers in the coming weeks, so it's unlikely that is the end of this saga. Either way, Cardi's fans will be ready to defend their idol once again and the media will be keeping a close on eye on these proceedings as time goes on!

And so will we!
