• Carlos Santana is perhaps the best guitarist in the world
  • He is known for his conservative values
  • THIS is what he said that has him in trouble

After celebrities like comedian Dave Chappelle have been very vocal about transgender ideology, they often found themselves in big trouble. It seems to be perhaps the biggest social issue in Western society these days, with many pundits and commentators on television and social media all throwing their two cents in. And now, some video footage recently surfaced of guitarist Carlos Santana as he criticized transgender ideology during a concert in late July. Carlos is arguably the world's premiere electric guitarist with a legendary career spanning more than 40 years.

Santana and his band of the same name have sold more than 100 million records and won 10 Grammys. But he made headlines this week for condemning transgender ideology at a concert in Atlantic City, N.J.

What will the backlash be?

A fan video of Santana on stage pausing after a song to make a statement, surfaced online and went viral. This is what he said that got everyone talking:

"When God made you and me, before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are," he said. "Later on, when you grow out of it, you see things, and you start believing that you could be something that sounds good, but you know it ain’t right. Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man. That’s it. Whatever you want to do in the closet, that’s your business. I’m OK with that."

But Carlos didn't want to forget others who have been cancelled by the culture. He also gave a shout-out to comedian Dave Chappelle. Dave faced incredible backlash after his last Netflix stand-up special, where he heavily criticized the transgender community and their rhetoric in pushing for social reform. And the conversation is alive and well even today. Santana had nothing but words of support for his friend saying, "I am like this with my brother Dave Chappelle," he said as he joined his hands together.

For many, it was heartwarming, and for others, it was gut-wrenching!

As is to be expected, fans online were quick to criticize Santana for his personal views. But Carlos doubled down and defended his rhetoric in a statement to 'Billboard' on Thursday. "Here is my personal goal that I strive to achieve every day. I want to honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs whether they are LGBTQ or not," he clarified.

"This is the planet of free will and we have all been given this gift. I will now pursue this goal to be happy and have fun, and for everyone to believe what they want and follow in your hearts without fear. It takes courage to grow and glow in the light that you are and to be true, genuine, and authentic. We grow and learn to shine our light with Love and compliments. Have a glorious existence. Peace," he said.

The fact is, sexual identity and gender is by no means an easy subject these days. And it's getting more and more complex by the day. Hollywood seems to be completely on one side, while some of its biggest stars are more and more conservative. It's tough to not politicize an issue that is political by nature.

Who knows where it all leads to? For now, perhaps it's best to just enjoy the music...
