Sons of Caitlyn Jenner, Brandon and Brody were put on the back burner for most of their lives while their famous dad focused on his family with Kris Jenner and their public image. Brandon is now finally opening up on growing up without a dad.

Brandon Jenner Opens Up About Famous Dad Caitlyn Jenner

Older Jenner brother Brandon wrote an essay for a collection of stories from children raised (or not raised) by famous fathers To Me, He Was Just Dad. In the essay, he finally goes into detail about essentially losing his dad Caitlyn Jenner to fame and his new family with now ex-wife Kris Jenner in 1991.

"I didn't see my father more than half a dozen times between the ages of 8 and 25" he admits, adding that the few times he did see his famous dad seemed very staged for his Dad's public image. "Sadly the infrequent exchanges felt more like staged photo opportunities than real bonding" and were indeed meetings for 'family' Christmas cards.

Brody Jenner Of The Hills Vents About Absent Father Caitlyn Jenner

Brandon has been incredibly forgiving of his absent father Caitlyn, even saying that if she had come out as transgender earlier in life they might have had a stronger father-son relationship. However, his younger brother Brody Jenner is much less forgiving.

Brandon's younger brother Brody has been more open about Caitlyn's lack of fathering to them during his time on The Hills. "Every so often, maybe once every couple of years. He wasn't around for my graduation. He wasn't around for most of my birthdays. So, yeah, there really wasn't any relationship. It was very surface." Caitlyn even famously canceled going to Brody's wedding at the last second.

Brody has accepted his father's choices and said of Caitlyn "She's happy and running around, off living her life. And what I've learned is to not expect too much from her." Brandon has a friendlier relationship with Caitlyn and even admits to slowly finally getting to know her.
