• Brooke Shields had a seizure
  • Actor Bradley Cooper was there to help
  • THIS is what she had to say

During an interview on the red carpet of a New York City event, Shields humorously shared her initial reaction upon waking up in an ambulance with the 'Silver Linings Playbook' actor by her side. "I'm okay but when I woke up in the ambulance and it was Bradley Cooper, I thought maybe I had died," she jested with 'ET'.

The Unexpected Hero

Shields, who was preparing for her one-woman show, 'Previously Owned', at the renowned Café Carlyle on September 7, collapsed due to low sodium levels. With her husband, Chris Henchy, and daughters absent, those around her reached out to Cooper for help.

"I flooded my system, and I drowned myself. And if you don’t have enough sodium in your blood or urine or your body, you can have a seizure."

In describing the event, Shields said she was "frothing at the mouth, totally blue, trying to swallow my tongue. The next thing I remember, I’m being loaded into an ambulance. I have oxygen on."

Shields described her grand mal seizure, a condition characterized by loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions, as a terrifying experience. She turned "totally blue", started frothing at the mouth, and was "trying to swallow" her tongue. "I remember being loaded into an ambulance with oxygen on, and Bradley Cooper holding my hand," she recalled.

The surreal experience made her question her reality. "This is what death must be like. You wake up and Bradley Cooper's going, 'I'm going to go to the hospital with you, Brooke,' and he's holding my hand. And I'm looking at my hand, I'm looking at Bradley Cooper's hand in my hand, and I'm like, 'This is odd and surreal,'" she shared with 'Glamour'.

It turns out the restaurant originally tried to contact Shields’ husband, Chris Henchy, but he did not initially respond. Multiple assistants got involved and Cooper ended up being contacted as he happened to be in the nearby area.

"His assistant called Bradley and said, ‘Brooke’s on the ground. Chris isn’t around. Go get her,’" Shields said. "And he came and somebody called the ambulance. And then it was like, I walked in with Jesus."

Fortunately nothing major happened and Brooke is now safe and sound.
