- Brooke Burke has some lady advice
- She is one of the fittest women in their 50s today
- THIS is her wonderful tip for others
With an eye-opening revelation, Brooke Burke, the renowned television personality and celebrated fitness enthusiast, is challenging the status quo by encouraging women in their 50s to revolutionize their workout routines by incorporating weights.
In a candid chat with Fox News Digital, the former 'Dancing with the Stars' alum shared her insights into navigating the tumultuous waters of menopause and the uncharted territory of aging with strength and grace.
Breaking the Weight Myth
Burke is on a mission to debunk the longstanding myths surrounding women and weightlifting. With a focus on bone health, metabolism, and overall strength, Burke emphasizes the importance of weight training for women, especially as they approach menopause.
Transitioning into her 50s, Burke has adapted her renowned "booty burn" workouts to include heavier weights, a move that she describes as transformative.
".. Most women are afraid of heavy weights. And there's this myth attached to it that we're going to get bulky," she said. "Not true. Like, we would have to consume so much protein and go so heavy and be so diligent about that program to really change the body."
"Heavy for me is like 10-pound arms," she quipped, highlighting that the goal isn't just aesthetics but building strength and resilience. Alongside weightlifting, Burke has also revamped her diet, incorporating more protein and nutrient-dense foods to fuel her body without obsessing over calorie counting.
Burke said there are several benefits to adding weights to your workout routine.
"What I found, I'm in my 50s, no one prepared us for menopause and said, 'Learn how to weight train,'" she told the outlet. "The reason we need to weight train is for bone density. It's bone health, osteoporosis. It shifts your hormones. It kicks up your metabolism. It creates strength. It allows you to develop more coordination so we can do other things."
For Burke, this journey is more than just physical transformation; it's about adopting a holistic approach to wellness that includes flavorful meals, herbs, spices, and oils. "It's different than when I was in my 20s. It's better, and it's more fun," she shared, emphasizing the joy and liberation found in this new phase of life.
She said she's also added protein to her diet, "because my body needs it." And she is fiercely against counting calories.
"I have enough stuff to count in my life," she said. "There are so many calories in my smoothie, but here's the difference — it's nutrient dense. It's loaded with good fats. I'm fueling my brain. I'm feeding my body. I'm energizing my whole system."
