Britney Spears might be able to have more autonomy in the future thanks to her mother Lynne! As Entertainment Tonight mentions, Britney was placed under a conservatorship that put others in charge of her life, but Lynne wants to help her daughter gain some freedom.
Spears has been living under a conservatorship since 2008
Britney Spears' father Jamie used to be her conservator, but he rescinded the role last September. That's when Jodie Montgomery, who has been Britney's care manager for some time, took over the position. On Monday however, Lynne filed a request with the Los Angeles County Court stating she wants to be notified of "all matters" having to do with Britney's SJB Revocable Trust.
"Britney has always struggled with her mental health so Lynne's concern for Britney is never-ending. She is her mother and hates to see her suffer," a source shared with Entertainment Tonight. "Lynne filed for transparency to keep an eye on the finances because she knows Britney has her ups and downs. She has been doing much better; she is in regular therapy and exercising. Lynne sees a huge improvement."
Spears "wants more freedom" with finances, source reveals
Britney seeks her mother's involvement because she feels that she has her best interests at heart. "Britney trusts Lynne and has asked her mother to be part of her conservatorship," the source explained. "She truly believes that her mother wants to help her have more autonomy when it comes to her money."
"Britney is aware that how she is doing psychologically seems to directly correlate to her spending habits," the source continued. "She knows right now she might not be ready to be in complete control but she wants more freedom to spend how she pleases."
Spears and her mom "are now closer than ever," source says
Britney reportedly believes that if Lynne is in charge, it will be a good thing for her. That's because "she feels her desires will be taken more seriously," according to the source. "She trusts her mother," the source says. "They went through some tough times in their relationship but they are now closer than ever."
Britney's fans have also spoken out in support of the singer! "Britney's fans are constantly worried," the source shared, going on to say that the singer is actually doing just fine. "[They] continue to post #FreeBritney #SaveBritney and petition for her to have her life back but the reality is she has a great life and just chooses to be home and private much of the time."

Spears filed for her SJB Revocable Trust back in 2014
Britney's SJB Revocable Trust was meant as a means of financially protecting both herself and her two sons, Sean and Jaden. Filed in 2014, it would "hold and manage her material financial assets during her lifetime, and provide distribution of those assets upon her death," as The Blast explained.
As Entertainment Tonight mentions, Britney's conservatorship is set to last until the end of next summer. Montgomery has been authorized to continue on with it until August 22, but it's possible that Lynne could become involved afterwards. At least Spears has been bonding with her family in the meantime, having spent some of quarantine with her sister Jamie Lynn!
