The popular musician couple is describing the mullet as "a symbol of hope" - perhaps as a memory of simpler times, or as a new sign of perseverance during the coronavirus quarantine period. Shelton's Twitter followers were receptive to the idea, and some - including the top response to the tweet - posted images of the singer's earlier mullet days.

Shelton concluded the tweet by saying: "Anyway it's coming back! For real. Stay tuned..." Fans will need to wait at least a little while to see the 43-year-old musician's reinvented mullet.
