Blake Lively isn't changing who she is, simply because she's a mother! The Gossip Girl alum got candid about her role as a mother, and how that has affected her work.
Lively also went on to say more about the lessons she hopes to instill in her daughters, whom she has three of with fellow Hollywood actor, Ryan Reynolds.
Blake Lively defines herself outside of motherhood
Blake Lively got candid in an exclusive interview with People and shared that she hopes her daughters realize women have identities outside of motherhood.
Her three daughters that she shares with Ryan Reynolds, James, 6, Inez, 5, and Betty, 2, mean the world to her, but that doesn't mean she will quit her passions.
"I want to be as present of a mother as humanly possible and I want them to feel my presence, but I also think the best way to be the best mother is to show them that you can have a life and have a passion and have an identity outside of just being a mother," she said.
Furthermore, she notes that having her daughters see her wearing "multiple hats" is "very important" to her.
"Being a mother is completely all-encompassing," she adds. "But that doesn't mean there are a lot of mothers who don't have the opportunity to work as well, but just having your [own] identity is, I think, very important."
Lively also went on to say that she brings her kids with her everywhere and that she's very attached to them. She adds that she is lucky enough that her job allows her such freedom.
"It is very important for them to see me working," she said. "I bring them along, though. I mean, it's amazing they're not hidden under my skirt right now."
Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds previously announced this year he's taking some time away from acting to spend with his daughters, after a very successful year.
"I'm just trying to create a little bit more space for my family and time with them," he said in The Hollywood Reporter. "You know, you don't really get that time back."
