Bindi Irwin is ever-appreciative of her loving parents. On Friday, the Australian TV star celebrated her 22nd birthday — but she took the occasion to direct the spotlight to Terri and the late Steve Irwin.
On Instagram Bindi shared a post that honoured her parents and gave fans a touching look at Steve's love for his daughter.

Bindi, who tragically lost her father when she was just 8 years old, shared a throwback video of Steve describing his reaction to her birth, which he called "the most incredible wildlife encounter of my life." In the "Birthday Love" post, Bindi wrote:
"22 years ago my parents decided to start a family. I will forever be grateful for their unconditional love and encouragement to follow my dreams.
"I chose the two most compassionate, dedicated and loving people in the world to be my mum and dad. There are no words to describe the amount of love in my heart for them both."
Steve's energetic video, included below, more than lives up to Bindi's heartfelt description of her parents.

How Steve Irwin reacted to Bindi's birth
"Here's this little baby girl. I swear she just fitted right in here in the palms of my hands. It was a combination of adrenaline and just emotion," Steve says in the video.
"It was like a euphoric feeling," he recalled. "I was in total utopia. And I ran around the hospital. 'Look at this! Look at this!' And they're like, 'Yes, we've got our own.' 'Yeah, but you haven't got one like this one! Look at this little beauty! Look at this little beauty!' I'm showing everyone. The nurses, the other ladies that have just given birth. And they're like, 'Oh, crikey.'"
"I am the proudest father on the face of the earth, no doubt," he added.
The now 22-year-old Bindi has become a conservationist and popular TV figure, just like her parents. She also returned with a video of thanks for all the well wishes she received on her birthday.
Bindi continues to star on Crikey! It's the Irwins with mum Terri and brother Robert Irwin. She also tied the knot with Chandler Powell back in March 2020. On Friday, Powell penned a first-ever birthday tribute to Bindi as his wife, in which he wrote: "Thank you for making the world a better and brighter place. My best friend, my wife, my everything. I love you."
