- Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake used to date
- Britney has recently announced her new memoir
- THIS is what she had to say about an abortion
Fans can't wait for Britney's new memoir to hit the shelves officially. The pop star's new book, 'The Woman in Me', focuses in part on her 13-year conservatorship under her father James Spears. But she also details other aspects of her personal life that the public didn't know. Including what happened during the time where she dated Justin Timberlake.
Britney had gotten pregnant while the two were together. "It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated," Spears, now 41, recalls in the book. "But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."
Britney had a difficult choice to make
Spears and Timberlake dated for a few years starting when she was 17 and he was 18, generating a tabloid frenzy as they made their ascents as two of the defining pop stars of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Their relationship became subject to public scrutiny again in 2021, after a 'New York Times' documentary, 'Framing Britney Spears,' included a re-examination of the world’s reaction to their breakup, which was framed in the media as being Spears’s fault, partly because a music video by Timberlake implied that Spears had cheated on him.
Without going into detail, Timberlake apologized to Spears in an Instagram post, saying that he had "failed" her.
As far as the pregnancy goes, Justin was apparently "so sure that he didn't want to be a father", Britney writes. After their split, Spears went on to briefly marry her childhood friend Jason Alexander in a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas in 2004, but the marriage was annulled just 55 hours later.
Their love was always ill-fated
A representative for Timberlake did not respond to CNN’s request for comment once the story broke publicly. In the book's excerpt, Spears writes about how she felt conflicted at the time. "If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father."
"To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life," she adds. Spears later married dancer Kevin Federline and had two sons, Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, prior to her and Federline divorcing in 2007.
On the other hand, Timberlake married actress Jessica Biel in 2012 and the pair are the parents of two young sons, Silas and Phineas.

Outside of that, the book looks to shine a light on some of the more traumatic events of Britney's infamous conservatorship, which has recently ended.
"I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body, since I was a teenager," one excerpt said. "Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back. But under the conservatorship I was made to understand that those days were now over. I had to grow my hair out and get back into shape. I had to go to bed early and take whatever medication they told me to take."
Her father has long maintained that the conservatorship had always been intended to protect his daughter from exploitation...and now the memoir is set to reveal even more!
