The latest holiday film to be released on Hulu this year, Happiest Season, wasn't always so glamorous on set, and during her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Aubrey Plaza reveals she believes COVID-19 was rampant with her co-stars.
Plaza, who stars in the movie alongside Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis, shares how crazy it was to see so many people get sick, as filming took place before everyone knew how serious the pandemic was.
Aubrey Plaza reveals COVID-19 spread on set
While filming the feel-good comedy-drama film Happiest Season, Aubrey Plaza reveals that it wasn't totally glamorous while on set, and disclosed how many people got infected with COVID-19.
While filming in Pittsburgh back in February, Plaza said that a slew of people got really ill during filming, before anyone knew about how serious the pandemic was about to be.
"COVID was on our set, Kristen got sick," the actress told the host. "We didn't know. A lot of people got sick."
She continued and explained, "It was like the last week in February, so it was like that zone when people were starting to talk about coronavirus but people were kind of laughing about it, nobody understood how serious it was. But I think a bunch of people on our set got sick."
Plaza said she questioned the seriousness of the whole pandemic in the beginning as she flew home as filming wrapped.
While on her way flying home, Plaza revealed she shared a conversation with airport transport about COVID.
"When I was leaving the set and going to the airport on February 29th or something, I said to one of the transpo guys, I was like, 'Do you think I should be worried about this virus thing?'", Plaza recalled.
"Like what is going on with this thing?' And he went, 'It is already here.' And I was like, 'What?' He's like, 'Oh that s--t has been in Pittsburgh for a long time.' And I was like, 'Geez, alright.' Anyway, he was right," she said.
The film stars a bevy of successful actors and actresses including, Alison Brie, Dan Levy, Marry Steenburgen, and Victor Garber.
Variety reported last week that the film broke premiere records for Hulu, adding that it was the most-streamed original movie opening weekend.
