The two seemed to be keeping their distance and posing a little awkwardly together. Despite playing an on-screen couple in their new film...

After an uproar about the pictures on social media, Ashton Kutcher decided to address the topic in a new episode of the Chicks in the Office podcast. 

"Here's the thing, OK," he said. "If I put my arm around her, and was like all friendly with her, I'd be having an affair with her, like that would be the rumour…"

Ashton Kutcher continued: "If I stand next to her and put my hands in my pockets, so there's no chance that could be the rumour – the rumour is that we don't like each other."

Kutcher's wife Mila Kunis even reacted to it all! She and Witherspoon are long-time friends, and the star sent a group text to Ashton and Reese, saying...

Kutcher revealed that Mila Kunis's text said jokingly: "Guys, you gotta act like you like each other."

In a new TV interview, Witherspoon also confirmed getting the group text from Kunis. "You guys look so awkward on the red carpet together," Mila wrote...

In truth, there are plenty of photos from the red carpet event where the pair look plenty happy to be there together!

And it looks like everyone is laughing it off now. Their romantic comedy Your Place or Mine premieres on Netflix just in time for Valentine's Day...
