Artem speaks out

"I am incredibly relieved and grateful that the domestic violence charges against me have been dropped," he said in a Sept. 25 statement to 'E! News'. "This has been an extremely difficult time for me. I am thankful that the truth has prevailed."

Artem—whose wife Nikki Garcia filed for divorce Sept. 11—shared that his "focus has always been and will always be" on their 4-year-old son Matteo.

"He is my world, and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life," the dancer said. "All along, my main concern has been for him. I am committed to continuing to provide him with the love, support, and care he needs as we move forward. I am hopeful that securing an equal custody arrangement will help us move on."

Artem Chigvintsev, a professional dancer and choreographer, and Nikki Garcia, a former WWE star and model, first connected while competing on 'Dancing with the Stars.' Their chemistry was undeniable, quickly evolving from partners in dance to partners in life. The couple welcomed their son, Matteo, in July 2020, further solidifying their bond as a family.

He continued, "I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, and legal team for standing by me during this challenging time. Your support has been invaluable, and I am thankful to everyone who believed in me and saw the truth for what it was."

Artem ended his statement by reiterating that he remains committed to his son, adding, "I look forward to moving past this chapter and focusing on what truly matters—continue being the best father I can be."

Throughout their relationship, they showcased their love through social media, sharing glimpses of their life together, their travels, and family moments. Fans admired their support for each other's careers and the joy they found in parenthood. However, despite the public displays of affection, challenges behind the scenes often remain unseen.

In recent weeks, both Artem and Nikki took to social media to announce their decision to separate. The news came as a shock to many fans who had followed their journey closely. In their statements, they emphasized that the decision was mutual and rooted in a desire for both of them to find happiness individually. They expressed gratitude for their time together and commitment to co-parenting their son amicably.

Artem was initially arrested in Napa on Aug. 29 on a domestic violence charge, but the 42-year-old was later released on $25,000 bail. Prosecutors said they would not be sharing further details about the case—including the identity of the alleged victim—but said they might revisit the case if they "learn of other incidents, or otherwise learns of facts or evidence not previously known."

"We are required to prove any and every criminal charge 'beyond a reasonable doubt' which is the highest standard in the American criminal justice system," Haley added. "If the available evidence doesn't rise to this level of proof, then we cannot ethically file charges."

While the end of a relationship is often difficult, it can also be an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Both Artem and Nikki have shown resilience in the face of challenges, and their ability to prioritize their son's well-being may serve as an inspiring example for others facing similar situations.
