- Angus Cloud was an American actor
- He died earlier this year
- THIS was his cause of death
Conor Angus Cloud Hickey was an American actor best known for his portrayal of "Fezco" in the highly popular HBO drama series 'Euphoria'. Angus was quickly becoming one of the most celebrated young actors around. He also had small roles in the independent films 'North Hollywood' and 'The Line', and appeared in music videos by Noah Cyrus among others. His loss has saddened many in the entertainment industry, and now we finally know what the cause of death was.
Angus had so much life still in him
Angus Cloud died of an accidental overdose, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s office in California. "Angus Cloud died from a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and in what is ruled as an accidental overdose," a spokesperson for the coroner told CNN on Thursday. "Angus suffered from acute intoxication from the combination of drugs, which also included benzodiazepine."
Unfortunately, Angus was just one of many victims of drug overdoes this year that have lost their lives prematurely. Fentanyl, in particular, has been an absolute cancer in society, taking many young people like Angus with it. Angus died in July at age 25.
"It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways," Cloud’s family said in a statement at the time. "We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone," his family added. "We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss."
He became another statistic...
Cloud’s breakout role came in 2019 as "Fezco", a sweet-natured drug dealer who cared deeply for "Rue", played by Zendaya, in 'Euphoria'. "I definitely thought it could be some kind of scam," he said to 'iD'.
"Then they brought me back in and they showed me the role, and it made more sense. Because in my mind I was like, they stopped me because I look like I could be a star? Then I’m like, no, it’s because I look like I could be a drug dealer."
Also interesting:
"The difference between me and everyone else who’s famous it’s that they were trying to go get famous, for the most part," Angus stated. "They were working hard, and they were like, ‘I’m going to make it to the top’. For me, it was just like too good of an opportunity to say no to. I had no idea it would go this far," he recalled.
In a statement at the time of his death, his family said Cloud had been struggling with the death of his father. "Although my son was in deep grief about his father’s untimely death … his last day was a joyful one," Lisa Cloud McLaughlin, his mother, said in a statement soon after her son’s death.
"He spoke of his intent to help provide for his sisters at college and also help his mom emotionally and financially. He did not intend to end his life. When we hugged goodnight, we said how much we loved each other and he said he would see me in the morning," she said.
Sadly, his journey was cut short far too soon. Angus had many ideas and projects on the go. In fact, Angus is credited to appear in an upcoming untitled thriller from Universal Pictures. He also stars alongside Pedro Pascal in the Oakland-set drama 'Freaky Tales,' which wrapped production in January.
This means fans will have one last chance to see him on screen again...
