Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's love story was one that Hollywood thought would stand the test of time. But sadly, Hollywood was wrong and the remnants of their relationship are still falling.
Angelina Jolie Sells Winston Churchill Painting
The Art Newspaper has just reported that Angelina Jolie's painting has just broken a record for the largest sum paid for a Churchill painting. The Tower of Koutoubia Mosque was the only painting the former Prime Minister Winston Churchill painted during World War II.
In a statement released by Christie's Art Auction House, Nick Orchard said, "Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque was created following the Casablanca Conference where it was agreed by the Allied forces that only complete surrender by the Axis powers would be acceptable. It is the only work that Churchill painted during the war, perhaps encouraged by the recent progress made by the Allies in what he considered to be one of the most beautiful countries he had encountered."
Winston gifted the painting to President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1943 and the painting eventually landed in the hands of Angelina Jolie. People reports that this was a loving gift from Brad Pitt to his then-partner Angelina Jolie in 2011. The gorgeous landscape piece was originally estimated to sell for $2-3 million but sold for a whopping $11.5 million!
Angelina and Brad have been wrapped in messy legal issues as their divorce finalization continues. They first began their relationship in 2005, married in 2014, and then separated in 2016. The pair are at least co-parenting well. Brad and Angelina have 6 children, Maddox (19), Pax (17), Zahara (16), Shiloh (14), Knox (12), and Vivienne (12).
