Angelina Jolie is revealing what it's like to watch her kids grow up as individuals and shares the importance of being honest with them as they grow.
For People's Kindness Issue, Jolie sat down to explore how each of her 6 children has been blossoming, and what that means for her as she navigates getting older herself.
Angelina Jolie opens up about her family's dynamic
Angelina Jolie recently walked the carpet with 5 of her 6 kids, and it's obvious how close the children are! Sitting down for an exclusive interview, the A-lister reveals what their family dynamic is like, and admits she's not the head of it all.
"Because there's so many of them, I think they've had a very significant effect on each other. It's not like I'm the head of anything," she said of her six kids, Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and her twins, 13, Vivien and Knox.
"They're pretty great people," Jolie gushed. "I'm very honest with my kids. And I'm very human with my kids."
Jolie also says that she's just there to support and allow her kids to grow up and be precisely who they want to be, and "to support and develop all the different aspects of who they are."
"I have six very individual human beings in my home," she adds, saying that she's been enjoying watching them discover who they are.
"We're supposed to help them figure out who they are. And you can't figure out who they are if you don't enthusiastically develop with them," she says.
Angelina also admits that she's hard on herself when it comes to motherhood, revealing that her mom guilt can come creeping in at the end of the day.
"Every day I feel like I'm more aware of everything I don't do right," she said. "I'm pretty tough on myself because I feel often, 'Am I doing the right thing? Did I says the right thing?'" she said.
That's not to say that her children feel the same way, though! Jolie adds, "My children have done many, many loving things. My children's kindness has been very healing to me."
