Amy Poehler was freaked out that technology wouldn't be on her side during the Golden Globes this year! On Monday, Poehler appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she revealed what was going through her mind before she and Tina Fey virtually co-hosted the awards show.
Poehler had "technological stress dreams" before Golden Globes
Poehler said that leading up to the Golden Globes, she was concerned about the potential tech-related issues that could arise. "There's a lot of things that can go wrong," she said. And as Poehler mentioned, even her subconscious was picking up on her anxiety over things going virtual!
The actress explained that she found herself having "stress dreams" about the event that were specifically related to her concerns about relying on technology in order for the night to run smoothly. "I kept having these technological stress dreams that, was just going to disappear," Poehler shared. "Just like bloop!"
Poehler says uncertainty has to be embraced sometimes
Poehler went on to describe her pre-Golden Globes dreams as "a living Zoom nightmare," and admitted that the safety protocol in place made the event itself feel somewhat unsettling. "It was like a [Stanley] Kubrick film because the audience was masked and quiet spread out and just kind of staring at us," she explained.
Last week, Poehler also talked about her experience hosting during a pandemic when she appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show. She admitted that it had been "very strange" to deal with the various technological and geographical challenges that presented themselves, since she was in Los Angeles while Fey was in New York.
"That is the tough thing about this year is everything feels really strange but you just kind of have to embrace it," Poehler explained. "You have to get into it because it's the way it is. The adjustment can be kind of weird and fun." She also mentioned she was thankful that she and Fey "have a rapport with each other," as the event marked the fourth time the duo co-hosted the Golden Globes!
