The Brad Pitt allegations: Angelina and the plane incident
Namely, in 2016, Brad Pitt was officially investigated for child abuse after an incident with his family aboard a plane.
Though Pitt was alleged to have been "verbally abusive" and "physical" with his son Maddox, he was cleared by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services.
Nevertheless, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt a few weeks later. He also began recovery for alcoholism around the same time.
After the split, a custody battle erupted over the couple's six children. Initially, Jolie kept the kids while Pitt agreed only to "therapeutic visits" with them. Clearly, they were sorting something out in private.
Brad Pitt denied new accusations in 2022
Then in 2022, further allegations from Jolie surfaced. In a separate court case, it came out that she had also accused Pitt of domestic abuse in the 2016 plane incident.
Jolie alleged Pitt "grabbed [her] by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall." He is also said to have "choked one of the children and struck another in the face."

Despite the disturbing details, an FBI statement concluded: "It was agreed by all parties that criminal charges in this case would not be pursued due to several factors."
Through his rep, Brad Pitt denied this version of the events. The star, however, has been open about his struggles with alcohol, and his recovery in AA.
In 2022, Pitt's lawyer addressed the allegations against him with the following statement: "Brad has owned everything he's responsible for from day one — unlike the other side — but he's not going to own anything he didn't do."
So, for the moment, it appears the allegations against Pitt will remain just that – allegations.
