On Thursday, October 21, Alec Baldwin faced a traumatic event that would change him forever. While on the set of his new western film, Rust, a live gun disguised as a fake was shot off fatally killing one of the film's cinematographers.

Halyna Hutchins was just 42 at the time of her passing and was a beloved wife and mother. After a day of silence from the set directors and Baldwin himself, the actor finally took to Twitter to address the horrible incident.

Alec Baldwin Addresses Fatal Gun Accident: "There Are No Words To Convey My Shock"

On his Twitter page, Baldwin addressed the tragedy saying that Hutchins was a beloved colleague.

"There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours," he said.

He continued in a second tweet, "I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."

While in New Mexico at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, Baldwin shot a prop gun that not only killed Hutchins but seriously injured Joel Souza, the movie's director.

This film is indefinitely put on hold for the time being, and a further investigation on how this mistake happened is taking place.

"The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today's tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna's family and loved ones," the production company said in a statement on Thursday.

"We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department's investigation. We will be providing counselling services to everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event," they continued.

So far no charges have been filed, and the Santa Fe police are still investigating.
