Hollywood star Fred Ward has passed away. The American actor died on May 8, 2022, at the age of 79, his publicist told People magazine. Many know him from the films The Right Stuff in 1983 and Tremors in 1990.
Fred Ward: He starred alongside true Hollywood legends
Fred Ward was in front of the camera for around 40 years. In 1979, he wowed viewers as "John Anglin" in the Clint Eastwood film Escape From Alcatraz, launching his successful showbiz career.
He also became internationally known with the Tremors movies. He starred in 1990's Henry & June alongside Hollywood talents Uma Thurman and Kevin Spacey.

Fred Ward had his biggest success in 1993 as "Stuart Kane" in the dramedy Short Cuts. He and the rest of the cast (including Julianne Moore and Jack Lemmon) received a Golden Globe for their ensemble performance.
Now the star recently passed away. The cause of death was not disclosed at the request of his family. He is survived by his wife Marie-France Ward and their son Django.
