- Charles Ross Heaton is an English actor and musician
- He is best known for 'Stranger Things'
- HERE is a look back at his career so far
Born in the quaint seaside town of Bridlington, England, Charlie's early life was as charming as it gets. But did you know this star has a rock 'n' roll side? Before his acting days, he welcomed a son, Archie Heaton, in 2014 with Akiko Matsuura, the edgy frontwoman of the alternative band Comanechi.
Charlie was destined for greatness
At 16, Charlie moved to London to live with his dad. His uncle had a recording studio there and Charlie played with several bands. After graduating from college, he joined Comanechi as their drummer. He toured the world with them for a year, but when they got back, he was broke.
And then fate came. Levi, his sister, who was trying to make it as an actor, suggested Charlie come along with her to a commercial agency when they held an open day. He was chosen and started going to commercial auditions. Although he hated the things he was asked to do, he landed one that was an eight-minute Swiss advertisement with a real story arc and characters.
It went on to win a Cannes Lion. Through that, he landed a talent agent and began auditioning for real roles. Fast-forward to 2015, and Charlie's acting career took off faster than a "Demogorgon" on the hunt! From small-screen gigs on 'DCI Banks' and 'Casualty' to silver-screen appearances in 'Urban & the Shed Crew', Charlie's talent was impossible to ignore.
Charlie Heaton: His First Big Movie
Charlie's first big movie was the 2016 psychological thriller 'Shut In', in which he starred alongside Naomi Watts. After 'Shut In', Charlie landed two more dark, challenging roles.
But hold onto your Eggos, folks! It was in 2016 that Charlie's life flipped upside down. Cast as the brooding "Jonathan Byers" in 'Stranger Things', he found more than fame—he found love with co-star Natalia Dyer (25, actress). Talk about a match made in Hollywood heaven!
In 2017, he starred alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and George Mackay in the spine-tingling horror flick 'Marrowbone'. And who could forget his 2020 leap into the superhero realm with 'The New Mutants'?
And then, in 2021, he starred opposite Catherine Keener in the independent film 'No Future' and was part of the cast of the critically acclaimed drama 'The Souvenir Part II.'
These days he is still working on 'Stranger Things' and fans can look forward to seeing him this year in 'Billy Knight'.

Heaton has a child with a former bandmate. Since 2016, he has been in a relationship with 'Stranger Things' co-star Natalia Dyer, who plays his character’s girlfriend "Nancy Wheeler" in the series. In October 2017, Heaton was detained at LAX Airport in Los Angeles for possession of small amounts of cocaine. He was not charged with a crime and was instead sent back to London.
Since first moving to London, he became a keen football fan and an avid supporter of Arsenal F.C. And they're doing well now, so Charlie is happy!
Charlie Heaton's journey from East Yorkshire to the eerie town of Hawkins has been nothing short of extraordinary. With his star on the rise, we can't wait to see what this talented Brit does next!
