Amber Portwood is a reality television personality who is known for starring in 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom, Teen Mom OG and Marriage Boot Camp. Amber was born on May 14th, 1990 in Anderson Indiana and got pregnant with her then boyfriend, Gary Shirley. It has been a rocky ride for the Teen Mom star since she gave birth to her first child, Leah Leann Shirley in 2008.
Amber Portwood lost custody of Leah
Amber was engaged to Gary Shirley for a short amount of time after the birth of their daughter but ultimately separated, with Gary Shirley gaining full custody of their daughter. Portwood had a history of violent behaviour towards her child's father including an assault that got brought to court where Portwood's ability to be a good mother was put into question.
Amber Portwood arrested in 2010
In 2010, Amber was charged with three counts of domestic violence and in 2011, she was arrested for the Class D felony of possession of a controlled substance and charged for violating her parole. On February 6th, 2010, Amber was sentenced to five-years and on June 13th, 2010 she began serving that sentence. She got let out early on good behaviour and is working on obtaining a joint custody agreement for her daughter.
Amber Portwood had second child with Andrew Glennon
Amber Portwood was engaged to DJ Matt Baier from 2014 until 2017 and then started dating her new boyfriend Andrew Glennon. Glennon and Portwood had a son, James Andrew Glennon on May 8th, 2018. Most recently, on July 5th, 2019 Amber was arrested once again and charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. She is now released on bond and there is a restraining order in place where she cannot see Andrew or their son James.
Life for Amber Portwood has not been easy and she has been diagnosed wit bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. We hope that things start to get better for Amber and that she's able to turn her life around. She is relatively active on social media, Instagram in particular.
