A Burglary Scare
A recent episode of Kristin Cavallari's podcast, 'Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari,' unveiled a terrifying incident from 2020.
During a family vacation in the Bahamas, Cavallari experienced a home invasion that she has kept secret from her children to this day. The family, including her sons Camden and Jaxon and daughter Saylor, were in the Bahamas for a month due to pandemic restrictions. Cavallari recounted how the event unfolded, beginning with an HVAC unit malfunction that required repair.
While staying in the Bahamas, Cavallari had her Uncommon James jewelry displayed in her closet when the HVAC unit broke down, necessitating a repair.
"That night I had [my son] Cam in the bed with me. Cam and I were sleeping," she recalled.
That night, she was startled awake by an intruder in her bedroom. "I woke up to a man crawling on my bedroom floor," she recalled. The situation escalated quickly, with the intruder fleeing after being confronted. Cavallari described the man as wearing a ski mask and dressed in black, making the ordeal even more chilling.
"I was so out of it because obviously I had just woken up," she said. "And I go, ‘What the f--- are you doing?’ And this man stands up, runs out the door, and, you guys, he had a ski mask on, full black arms, black pants, the full thing. And I went ‘oh, f---.’"
Cavallari's instincts kicked in, keeping her calm during the incident to protect her son Camden, who was sleeping beside her. She recounted, "Because Cam was in the bed with me, I didn’t yell. I didn’t scream. You think in those moments that that’s what you’d do, but your instincts just kick in. I honestly felt like I was in 'Mission Impossible'."
After waking her ex-husband Jay Cutler, the reality of the situation hit her, causing her to become visibly shaken. Despite the fear, Cavallari chose to keep the incident from her children to prevent scaring them unnecessarily.
"Once I woke Jay up, then I got really nervous," she admitted. "Then I start [to get] like, really scared. I started shaking, and I was able to process then what just happened. But until that point, I was not scared. I was really calm. You just are running off of instinct."
"That's just one that I think would really scare them," she said. "Long story short, he took all of the cash that we had in a backpack. We ended up getting it back. We found out who it was. It was the HVAC guy." Calling the ordeal "one of the scariest things that I went through," Cavallari said she’s happy to shoulder the knowledge of what happened to protect her kids.

"I will not tell them, probably, until they're adults," she said. "Because I just think some things kids do not need to know. And scary stuff like that, I will take that one."
The experience left a lasting impact on Cavallari, who continues to protect her children from the frightening memory, stating, "I will not tell them, probably, until they're adults.
