On January 1, King Frederik X and Queen Mary celebrated their first New Year's reception as a royal couple at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen. The occasion marked a significant moment in their reign and attracted numerous members of the Danish royal family.
The hosts appeared in elegant evening wear: Queen Mary wore a green velvet robe with lace on the sleeves and neckline, complemented by a sparkling tiara and a silver clutch. King Frederik impressed in a black uniform.

The banquet was a meeting place for the Danish royals. Crown Prince Christian of Denmark, the son of the royal couple, appeared in a black tailcoat. Queen Mother Margrethe II chose a cobalt blue gown, while her sister Princess Benedikte appeared in dark purple. Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Marie also attended the event.
On the Elephant Order's day of honor, all members wore the prestigious order. The Order is one of the most prestigious royal honors in Denmark.
Frederik's first royal New Year's address
One day before the reception, Frederik X gave his first New Year's address as King. On New Year's Eve at 6 pm, he addressed the Danish people from Amalienborg Palace and thanked them for their support since he took office on January 14, 2024.
