The 45-year-old Canadian singer Nelly Furtado became popular in 2000 after her debut album Whoa, Nelly! which features some of her most listened to tracks like "I'm Like a Bird" and "Turn Off the Light." The album had such success that it went to the top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 list, and earned her a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "I'm Like a Bird."

In 2003 she released her second album Folklore, which includes some of her iconic songs like "Try" and "Força." However, it was in 2006 when she released her best-selling album Loose, with 12 million copies sold worldwide and also known for tracks like "Promiscuous", "Maneater", and "Say It Right".

Overall, the pop and R&B singer and songwriter has sold over 40 million records worldwide and is considered to be one of the most successful Canadian artists of all time; she actually has a star on Canada's Walk of Fame.

Nelly Furtado's most recent work does not only include the release of music albums; she also appeared in the romantic comedy film A Date With Miss Fortune in 2016. The singer is also known for being an active philanthropist, she is a member of the Canadian charity Artists Against Racism and hosted a program about AIDS on MTV, alongside other celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys. A little bit about Nelly Furtado's personal life

Nelly Furtado had a relationship with composer Jasper Gahunia, the couple broke up in 2005 but welcomed a daughter named Nevis Chetan in 2003. A couple of years later, in 2008, the Canadian married sound engineer Demacio Castellon but divorced in 2016; she has reportedly been single since then.

In 2006 during an interview with Genre magazine, Nelly Furtado said that "women are beautiful and sexy" after being asked about feeling attracted to women. Some fans considered it as an announcement of bisexuality, but a couple of months later the singer said that she was straight but "very open-minded."
