- Morgan Freeman was seriously injured
- Otherwise he is in good health
- That's why he always wears a glove
Morgan Freeman (87) has been wearing a glove on the red carpet more and more often in recent years, but this is not a fashion trend. At the 2023 Oscars and at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November 2022, the actor wore the accessory, which was necessary for health reasons.
Morgan Freeman injured hand - a terrible accident
In August 2008, Morgan Freeman was seriously injured in a car accident in Mississippi. The actor broke his left arm and elbow and also injured his shoulder when his car overturned several times.
Although Morgan Freeman underwent a four-hour operation to repair the nerve damage, his left hand is still immobile to this day. As a result of the injury, the Hollywood star had to learn to do everyday things with his right hand.
"I suffered nerve damage, and it hasn’t gotten better. I can’t move it," Morgan Freeman said about his hand in an interview with 'People' in 2010.
Why does Morgan Freeman wear a glove on his left hand?
The actor also suffers from fibromyalgia, a disorder characterized by pain in various areas of the body. Morgan Freeman can no longer move his left hand and therefore suffers from chronic pain.
To combat his discomfort, Morgan Freeman wears a compression glove for most of his red-carpet appearances to promote circulation and ease the pain in his hand.
