Liam Payne's untimely death at the age of just 31 has shocked the world. The One Direction singer died after falling from a balcony in a hotel in Buenos Aires. His girlfriend Kate Cassidy (25) was still with him until shortly before the dramatic incident.
She has now shared a detailed statement about Liam's death on Instagram. She also posted a series of snapshots of the two of them. The couple looks in love and super happy.
Liam Payne's girlfriend shares touching words
"I don't even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can't put into words" Kate begins her emotional statement.
She continues: "You are - because I can't say you were - my best friend, the love of my life [...]. None of this feels real and I can't wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I'm struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side."
"It feels like I've lost the best part of myself", says Kate. She remembers how the two of them had imagined their future together just weeks before Liam's death. "Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever" Liam is said to have written on a piece of paper.
Kate describes Liam as her "Guardian angel". She concludes her statement with the words: "I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go."
