Chris Meloni's first TV role
Meloni was born on April 2nd, 1961 in Washington D.C., and attended the University of Colorado to pursue an acting degree. He eventually finished school with a degree in history, however acting ultimately won out as he moved to New York to study with acting guru Sanford Meisner. Working his way up in commercials, Meloni's first role on television was in the 1989 series 1st & Ten: The Championship.
Christopher then went on to star in 19 episodes of The Fanelli Boys (1990-1991), Dinosaurs (1991-1993), Bound (1996), Runaway Bride (1999) and Wet Hot American Summer (2001) among many others. He had his first real breakthrough on the TV series Oz as "Chris Keller" from 1998 to 2003.
Christopher Meloni on Law & Order: SVU
Meloni's most well-known and longest standing role was as "Elliot Stabler" on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit from 1999 to 2011. He appeared alongside Mariska Hargitay for a total of 272 episodes. Meloni and Hargitay truly formed an incredible bond both on-screen and off. More recently, Christopher Meloni has starred in the series Underground from 2016 to 2017 and Happy! from 2017-2019. He is married to production designer Sherman Williams and they have a daughter, Sophia Eva Pietra and a son, Dante Amadeo.
